Vubiquity, TV2U eye VOD markets in Asia, Middle East

Content service provider Vubiquity and TV2U are joining forces to deliver transactional video-on-demand (VOD) services in Indonesia, UAE, Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait.

Vubiqity will provide international programming and content processing for the transactional VOD services, while TV2U will give its video distribution clients a platform with single login access to enable customers to buy and stream films and TV series.

As a result, telecommunications operators, government organisations and broadcasters in these countries will be able to offer their customers premium content from US and European TV networks.

"We're proud to be working with TV2U. The developing world is an important source of growth for the video-on-demand industry, and we are focusing on capturing the market in these booming regions," said Adam Poulter, managing director, Vubiquity.

"At Vubiquity, we have been busy launching some of the first ever video-on-demand services in Africa and Eastern Europe and are nicely placed to provide a robust, high quality content service in these under-penetrated markets."

Australia and the UK are also included as part of the partnership, and more countries may be added to the list in the future, the companies said.
