US telecoms carrier Windstream has received approval for a cable TV franchise agreement in Lexington, Kentucky.
The licence was granted by Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, under which it will bring its Kinetic television service to the homes of more than 50,000 Lexington residents.
"Windstream is thrilled to have the opportunity to bring Lexington residents our next-generation TV service, Kinetic," said Sarah Day, SVP, small business and consumer, Windstream. "We look forward to providing choice to the community, and for residents here to experience our interactive and innovative television service."
Pending full execution of the agreement, eligible households will be able to sign up for Kinetic service as soon as late autumn.
Powered by the Ericsson Mediaroom platform, Kinetic offers fibre-fed IPTV with HD, whole-home DVR, wireless STBs, video-on-demand (VOD) and instant channel change.
Lexington will be the second Kinetic market, following its launch in Lincoln, Nebraska last spring.
