Indonesia’s third largest mobile operator by subscribers Indosat has confirmed its intention to launch a commercial 4G service in November, but is trimming its capital expenditure for 2016 to IDR7 trillion (USD477 million) from the IDR7.5 trillion it will spend this year. The Jakarta Globe quotes president and CEO Alexander Rusli as saying that its 2016 CAPEX figure is in line with telecoms industry growth projections of between 6% and 7%. Indosat embarked on a major network modernisation programme two years ago in anticipation of rolling out 4G LTE, and the firm’s CEO says that the declining trend in CAPEX outlay is ‘expected’.
