du has been honored with ‘Best in Class’ award at HP Protect 2015: HP’s 11th annual security user conference. du was among five companies chosen from 12 finalists across the world for the award that recognises customers whose use of HP security technologies and services to deliver the greatest ROI. There was a special mention about du successfully utilising both HP ArcSight and HP TippingPoint technologies, and building a world-class Security Operation Center.
Ibrahim Al Mallouhi, Vice President of Security Operations at du, received the award from Sue Barsamian, Senior Vice President & General Manager of Enterprise Security Products at HP, during the general session on the opening day at HP Protect 2015. This annual conference brings together the world's top information security talent, to discuss new products and share information.
On receiving the award, Al Mallouhi said: “In a customer-centric smart city, guaranteeing the security of information for customers will be key to ensuring their happiness. This award is recognition for our team’s continuous efforts to provide best in class services for our partners and customers, a key driver for our ongoing goal to serve as a partner of choice.”
Al Mallouhi and Tamer El Bahey, Senior Director of Security Monitoring and Operations at du, also delivered sessions at this year’s HP Protect on du’s security operations center case study. Both sessions received ample attention and appreciation from event attendees. du’s SOC had previously received the best SOC implementation in GISEC 2014 and top-notch ratings in the SOC Maturity Assessment conducted by HP SIOC team based on SEI-CMMI level from Business, People, Process and Technology perspectives.
By leveraging HP technologies, du is able to pinpoint attempts to compromise its network at the earliest stages. In addition, it can detect the presence of malware infiltrating the network or the presence of hackers attempting to exfiltrate data. 95% of attacks are detected within the first 24 hours, and du has experienced an 85% reduction in monthly security alerts using 550 intelligence use cases that analyse 30,000 events per second. As a result of the SOC maturity, du has increased security analyst productivity and improved detection quality.
du’s Information Technology Department has earlier been awarded the prestigious ISO 27001:2013 Certification, the best-known standard in the family providing requirements for an Information Security Management System (ISMS), as a testament to its efforts to continuously provide secure solutions to all its customers.
