Tunisia will launch a tender for 4G spectrum later this month with licences to be awarded in summer 2016, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Nommen Fehri, announced, AllAfrica reports. Operators will be called upon to roll out coverage to remote, ‘non-profitable’ regions as part of efforts to improve connectivity in rural areas and promote their development. The minister added that the implementation of 4G technology would help improve internet services across the country, which are currently ‘poor and expensive’.
