Tivit project implements 4G in wind farm in Brazil's northeast

A pioneering project by TIVIT, a Brazilian multinational that connects technology for a better world, enabled the implementation of a 4G LTE connection in a wind farm of a large energy company in Brazil. The initiative aims to optimize communication between field teams and the control center, ensuring faster responses to demands and greater operational safety.

According to the Brazilian Wind Energy Association (ABEEólica), Brazil had 1,039 wind farms and more than 11,000 wind turbines in operation in 2024. The Northeast and South regions concentrate the largest number of installations which, in 2022, avoided the emission of 26.9 million tons of CO2.

The project

TIVIT partnered with a telecommunications solutions manufacturer for the initiative, which lasted approximately 12 months and consolidated a system that allows employees working close to wind turbines to receive real-time information on the main operation via tablets and cell phones.

“In addition to establishing connectivity, which was previously virtually non-existent, we ensured greater security for the client’s operations,” explains Helenice Oliveira, Director of IoT Operations and Enterprise Content Management at TIVIT. “The park is located in a remote and difficult-to-access area, where communication previously depended exclusively on radios. This delayed operational responses and increased the risk of accidents, in addition to making preventive actions difficult in the event of unforeseen weather conditions. Now, with real-time data, these situations are better managed and dealt with more proactively.”

With the new private network installed, office employees also gain access to more robust and complex programs, such as SAP and other management platforms, transferring data at high speed. In addition, the project allows for the immediate issuance and monitoring of service orders, reducing response times.

Tailor-made connectivity

The case reinforces TIVIT’s positioning as a strategic partner in the implementation of private mobile networks, going beyond the conventional role of operators. The solution was tailored to meet the specific needs of the client, ensuring high-quality connectivity.

According to the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel), only 15% of Brazil has fixed or mobile network coverage. Through this initiative, TIVIT demonstrates its ability to offer advanced technological solutions for strategic sectors, contributing to the expansion of connectivity in the country and promoting projects that combine innovation and sustainability.

With operations in 10 countries in Latin America, TIVIT offers customized digital solutions, including Digital Transformation projects, Agile Solution Development, SAP, Generative Artificial Intelligence, Multi-platform Cloud Environment Management (hybrid, private and public) and legacy systems, all supported by a complete suite of cybersecurity solutions and services.
