KT reinforced its global AI leadership by participating in key discussions on AI ethics, AI adoption in telecommunications, and inclusive digital services at MWC in Barcelona, Spain. KT AI Future Lab Director Bae Soon-min (CRAIO) joined the “Building Ethical Intelligence” panel on March 4, where industry leaders explored the principles of responsible AI adoption, including fairness, human subjectivity, privacy, security, and transparency.
Bae highlighted KT’s initiatives, such as the Responsible AI Center (RAIC) and the AI ethics framework 'ASTRI' (Accountability, Sustainability, Transparency, Reliability, Inclusivity). KT also published the ‘KT Responsible AI Report’ and is advancing Korean-style AI research, including a Korean-linked Large Language Model (LLM).
In the ‘Are Telcos Behind the AI Curve?’ session, Bae discussed AI adoption challenges in telecommunications, regional differences, and successful implementation strategies. He emphasized the role of partnerships, citing KT’s collaboration with Microsoft, and highlighted the critical role of telcos in infrastructure, data, talent development, and governance. Later, at the ‘Women’s ICT Leaders Roundtable,’ co-hosted by GSMA and ITU, Bae joined discussions on inclusive digital services and supporting young women in the digital era.
