In an era where wireless connectivity is vital to economic and social progress, Globalstar is proud to pledge USD 2 billion through the Partner2Connect Digital Coalition.
This pledge to expand our satellite coverage reflects our firm commitment to global connectivity.
The Partner2Connect initiative, led by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), aims to mobilize USD 100 billion in public and private sector commitments by 2026 and is dedicated to expanding connectivity in the world’s least-developed countries.
Globalstar’s pledge seamlessly aligns with this mission, reinforcing our long-standing vision to deliver accessible and reliable satellite connectivity worldwide.
Addressing the global divides
Out of an estimated 2.6 billion people still offline, nearly a third reside in the 46 countries classified as least developed, according to ITU statistics. In developing regions, access to digital technologies is often hindered by high costs, inadequate infrastructure, and a lack of digital literacy.
Recognizing these challenges, Globalstar is taking decisive action to enable greater connectivity. We’re doing it by leveraging our innovative low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite technology.
How Globalstar’s pledge transforms connectivity
Globalstar is investing USD 2 billion to expand and evolve its global mobile satellite network, advancing the mission to provide connectivity to all including direct-to-device (D2D) and Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity solutions.
The benefits of our LEO satellite connectivity include:
Global coverage with minimal gaps: Our LEO constellation provides repeatable and redundant coverage, mitigating interruptions and ensuring a reliable communication network.
Lower latency for enhanced performance: LEO satellites operate closer to Earth than traditional geostationary satellites, significantly reducing latency and improving real-time communications.
Optimized battery consumption: Devices connected to LEO satellites require less power, extending battery life and enhancing usability, particularly in regions with limited energy resources.
Affordable and scalable solutions: Globalstar’s bent-pipe architecture allows for streamlined, efficient, and cost-effective data transmission, ensuring affordability without compromising on reliability.
30 years of empowering communities
For three decades, Globalstar has championed the mission of making satellite connectivity an accessible tool for businesses, governments, and individuals alike. Our robust and scalable solutions have enabled critical communication across industries, from disaster response and public safety to enterprise and industrial applications.
By aligning with ITU’s Partner2Connect initiative, we reaffirm our dedication to empowering communities to participate in the digital economy and improve their quality of life – one connection at a time.
Making connectivity universal
Globalstar is honoured to collaborate with ITU, a leading force in global telecommunications policy and standards.
Our LEO network and industry-leading satellite architecture – which receives and immediately relays data, just like a bent pipe – reinforces goals of increasing digital access, affordability, and literacy worldwide.
Leaving no one behind
The road to universal connectivity requires bold commitments and innovative solutions.
Through the USD 2 billion LEO rollout pledge, Globalstar can help ensure that no community is left behind.
As we continue expanding our satellite capabilities and global reach, we look forward to driving meaningful progress in the pursuit of a fully connected world.
