Tele2 has announced that it will be focussing on expanding its 5G network in 2025. Currently, most of its 5G base stations are located in larger cities and county centers. The operator's goal is to ensure a more uniform coverage area and, in line with the growth in 5G demand, increase network coverage, for example, on busy roads and in smaller settlements.
Tele2 Estonia's 5G network is expanding rapidly, providing faster and more stable data connections to more and more users. By the end of 2024, Tele2's 5G network covered approximately 70% of the Estonian population. During the year, the 5G network was expanded by 100% and more than 200 new 5G base stations were added.
The company plans to significantly increase 5G coverage by the end of 2025. They want to make 5G available to an even wider population and ensure that fast and high-quality data communication is available in both larger cities and sparsely populated areas. 5G speeds and technical developments In addition to wider coverage, Tele2 is working to improve network performance and speed. Currently, Tele2's 5G network is based on the 700 MHz frequency, which provides wide coverage, and the 2.3 GHz and 3.5 GHz frequencies, which provide higher 5G speeds.
