Taiwan's 3 telecom streaming platforms experience viewer growth during Lunar New Year

Taiwan's three telecom streaming platforms, including Chunghwa Telecom, FarEasTone, and Taiwan Mobile, saw viewer growth during the Lunar New Year, CNA reported on Tuesday.

Chunghwa Telecom's Hami Video saw a 50% increase in viewers compared to the same period last year. The platform also reported a 2.3-fold growth in subscriber numbers year-on-year.

FarEasTone's friDay Video saw an increase in free membership subscriptions. Movie viewing time grew by 50% year-on-year, while viewership for South Korean variety shows and Japanese dramas rose by nearly 60%.

Taiwan Mobile's MyVideo saw a more than 50% increase in viewers compared to regular days, with online paid users growing threefold. Movie viewership also surged by over 60% compared to the previous week, while animation viewership grew by nearly 30% year-on-year.

Taiwan Mobile said peak viewership during Lunar New Year was driven by variety shows, blockbuster movies, and animation.

The National Communications Commission said on Saturday the domestic streaming platform market continues to grow, with paid subscription users reaching 58.6%. FarEasTone's friDay Video has topped subscriber numbers for three consecutive years, per Yahoo News.

FriDay Video offers users real-time customer service and a "Video Wishlist" feature, allowing viewers to suggest preferred content. The platform also integrates AI technology to enhance the viewing experience.
