Masts upgraded in bid to improve Borders' 4G coverage

BORDERERS are set for a phone signal boost after two masts were upgraded.

The improvements are part of the UK Government Shared Rural Network.

The masts are located at Cossarshill Farm and Tushielaw Farm in the Ettrick Valley, near Selkirk.

They will deliver improvements to connectivity so that more people can receive better 4G coverage.

The news was confirmed in a letter to Borders MP John Lamont from UK Government minister of state Chris Bryant.

Mr Lamont – a Conservative representative for Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk – said it was a “very welcome development”.

He added: “For too long, people in rural areas have been left behind and areas have been left without good phone signals or strong network connections.

“I have campaigned for years to change this and I’m very pleased these upgraded masts will help more people access reliable 4G networks.”
