State-backed telecom company Nepal Telecom (NTC) has been aggressive in the expansion works of its Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) network in Madhesh Province to ensure it can provide the best communication services to its customers. In the current fiscal year, FY 2081/82, the company has outlined some tangible plans for this effort.
The company says in FY 2081/82, it plans to install 106 Fiber Distribution Cabinet (FDC) or 30,000 Home pass lines. Speaking of fiber expansion, a growing number of people and businesses are now signing up for fiber internet. As per the latest NTA data, there are over 28.04 lakh unique fiber internet users across the country. The growth is attributable to private internet service providers (ISPs) and Nepal Telecom for their expansion efforts.

Additionally, the company has distributed 982 CPE devices as of Kartik FY 2081/82. Provincial Directorate, Birgunj has set a target of expanding the FTTH network to all the municipalities in Madhesh Province.
