Adtran recently announced that it has partnered with Sonic Fiber Internet to deliver 50 Gbps connectivity across California. Sonic will leverage Adtran’s 50G PON technology to provide symmetrical connectivity to residential and business customers.
Adtran reports that its 50G PON technology has been designed to coexist with GPON and XGS-PON, allowing for network upgrades without disruption. The partnership will support targeted rollouts in high-demand areas.
Stephen Bradley, vice president of sales and marketing at Sonic, said the collaboration will keep the company ahead of industry and consumer trends.
“Our partnership with Adtran marks a major milestone in the evolution of ultra-fast connectivity in California,” said Bradley in a press release. “By developing the state’s first 50G PON network, we’re laying the foundation to meet the rapidly growing demands of emerging technologies and data-intensive applications, as well as supporting emerging standards like Wi-Fi 7, Wi-Fi 8, and beyond.”
Adtran CTO Christoph Glingener said the partnership will drive future-ready infrastructure to meet connectivity demands today and in the future.
