UAE-headquartered telecom and digital services provider du has announced two major deals: one, with tech giant Ericsson, relating to 5G network expansion and another, with strategy and consulting company Accenture, linked to IT application development and maintenance.
Ericsson and du’s announcement involves a new agreement to expand du’s 5G network across the UAE.
As part of this agreement, du will leverage the Ericsson radio access network (RAN) portfolio to increase the capacity of its 5G network, enabling a seamless and high-quality experience for existing mobile broadband and fixed wireless access customers.
Ericsson says the expanded network will lay the groundwork for innovative services such as augmented reality, virtual reality, and cloud gaming as well as preparing the network for 5G Advanced, the next evolutionary step in 5G technology.
This agreement, says Ericsson, strengthens its long-standing partnership with du as a trusted RAN provider since 2021.
Also announced this week has been the news that Accenture and du are collaborating under a five-year contract to help du on the application, development and maintenance (ADM) of its IT landscape.
Under the ADM contract, Accenture will work closely with du and its partners to move to a new operating model that allows them more flexibility and predictability, and enables them to maintain and evolve du’s IT applications.
Accenture says that by implementing new ways of working and processes in line with industry best practices, the new model will help du break silos, accelerate time to market and enable the launch of innovative products and services while improving efficiencies.
Accenture will also support du with the adoption of new technologies and products, including gen AI and advanced analytics, helping du to achieve its business objectives in line with its digital-first strategy.
Fahad Al Hassawi, Chief Executive Officer, dum says: “Leveraging Accenture’s expertise in ADM, we aim to significantly boost our agility and market responsiveness in line with our commitment to breaking silos and fostering a culture of innovation and efficiency, enabling us to offer more advanced, customer-centric solutions. Through new technologies like gen AI and advanced analytics, we are poised to redefine what's possible, aligning with our goal to not only meet but exceed our business objectives in the digital era.”
