Kuwait expands partnership with Google Cloud to drive national digital transformation

Kuwait is set to enhance its collaboration with Google Cloud as part of its strategic vision for 2035, aimed at accelerating the nation’s digital transformation, according to Communication Minister Omar Al-Omar. Speaking at the “Cloud Day” event organized by Google, the minister emphasized that attracting foreign investment would be a positive outcome of this comprehensive digital initiative.

Kuwait has already established a joint training program with Google focused on developing “national skills” in Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity technologies. A national training initiative is currently underway, designed to improve the digital skills of young people and state employees, equipping them with the latest technological expertise as they enter the job market.

The minister highlighted the importance of these efforts, anticipating the emergence of a “new generation” of tech leaders who will spearhead Kuwait’s digital transformation, positioning the nation for a “brighter and more prosperous” future.

Shaymaa Alterkait, Country Manager for Google Cloud in Kuwait, expressed the tech giant’s commitment to nurturing a robust digital ecosystem. This initiative aims to empower businesses, government agencies, and individuals to leverage the “power of the cloud and AI” for economic advancement. She noted that Google Cloud’s extensive infrastructure, comprising 40 regions, 121 zones, and 187 network edge locations, serves as the foundation for this global initiative and will play a pivotal role in Kuwait’s digital transformation.
