Vodafone Egypt oartners with ELSEWEDY ELECTRIC to manufacture advanced telecom equipment locally

Vodafone Egypt has announced a groundbreaking strategic partnership with ELSEWEDY ELECTRIC to produce advanced telecommunications equipment in Egypt and Africa, marking the first collaboration of its kind. The agreement was formalized during a signing ceremony led by Rasha Al-Azhari, Chief Financial Officer at Vodafone Egypt, and Abdelrahman Elsewedy, Group Chief Strategy and Corporate Development Officer at ELSEWEDY ELECTRIC. Mohamed Shamroukh, Executive President of Egypt’s National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, also attended the event, representing the Minister of Communications and Information Technology.

This strategic alliance will support local production of a variety of telecom products, including fibre and copper cables, lithium batteries for telecom cabinets, and antennas. The initiative is a significant step forward for Egypt’s telecommunications sector, with the goal of producing high-quality products that meet international standards and reduce reliance on imports.

“Our partnership with ELSEWEDY ELECTRIC represents a key advancement in localizing the production of telecom equipment in Egypt. It aligns with Egypt’s broader strategy to strengthen critical industries and foster local expertise, contributing to economic growth and technological innovation,” said Rasha Al-Azhari.

Abdelrahman Elsewedy echoed these sentiments, stating, “This transformative project will boost the local telecommunications sector by leveraging our manufacturing expertise to create innovative solutions that not only meet local demands but also drive regional economic development.”

Vodafone Egypt emphasized that this partnership is part of its ongoing strategy to enhance the local economy and support the growth of the smart telecommunications equipment industry. Previously, the company partnered with Samsung to manufacture mobile devices locally and collaborated with El Safi Group and Green Pact International to produce high-speed routers, furthering industrial investment in the country.
