SAP spearheads digital transformation in Pakistan

At a press briefing during SAP Innovation Day in Karachi, Saquib Ahmad, SAP’s Country Director for Pakistan, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Bahrain, highlighted that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is poised to create new job opportunities rather than eliminate them. Speaking at a local hotel, Ahmad emphasized SAP’s pivotal role in digitally transforming Pakistan’s various sectors for over two decades, ranging from energy and manufacturing to banking and government.

SAP’s innovative solutions have been instrumental in enhancing the operational capabilities of both large enterprises and SMEs, enabling improved decision-making, optimizing supply chains, and supporting sustainability initiatives. “We are committed to aiding organizations in their transition to intelligent enterprises,” Ahmad remarked.

The public sector in Pakistan has also seen significant benefits from adopting SAP’s technology, which has increased transparency, control, and cost efficiency. Notably, the Accountant General Pakistan Revenues (AGPR) office has become more technologically efficient, integrating with the State Bank of Pakistan’s Micro Payment Gateway, RAAST, to streamline processes like vendor payments and pension distributions.

Key institutions such as the Ministry of Finance & Revenue, Pakistan Railways, and the Higher Education Commission are leveraging SAP technology to enhance service delivery to millions. SAP’s engagement extends beyond large entities to empower SMEs, transforming them into smart businesses equipped for the digital age.

Moreover, SAP is nurturing digital skills locally through partnerships with technology firms and educational bodies, driving national growth within the global digital economy. “Our solutions are central to Pakistan’s vision of a digitally integrated economy,” added Fahad Zahid, Director of Large Enterprise for SAP Pakistan and Bahrain.

The event was also attended by Shamuel Ali, Director of Midmarket & New Business, SAP Pakistan, Iraq, Bahrain, and Afghanistan, marking a significant stride towards achieving digital excellence in Pakistan.
