Dubai AI security policy launched

The Dubai Electronic Security Centre (DESC) has introduced the Dubai AI Security Policy, a strategic move aimed at enhancing AI technologies’ safety and fostering growth within the region. This policy was unveiled at the Dubai AI and Web3 Festival 2024, marking DESC’s commitment as the event’s official cybersecurity partner. The festival, a collaboration among the Dubai AI Campus, the Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications Office, and the Dubai International Financial Centre, took place at Madinat Jumeirah from September 11th to 12th.

Yousuf Al Shaibani, CEO of DESC, emphasized the policy’s alignment with the UAE’s vision to become a global AI leader by 2031 as outlined in the UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031. This policy is set to accelerate the integration of AI applications in Dubai, supporting the city’s economic ambitions under the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33) which aims to double the city’s economy in the next decade.

Amer Sharaf, CEO of the Cybersecurity Systems and Services Sector at DESC, noted that this policy is a significant addition to Dubai’s innovative cybersecurity measures. It is designed to protect AI innovations, enhance public-private cooperation, and attract AI investments, thereby solidifying Dubai’s stature as a leading global AI hub.

The festival attracted over 5,000 business leaders, 500 investors, and around 100 exhibitors from 100 countries, focusing on advancements in AI, Web3, and digital economies, and highlighting Dubai’s proactive approach to shaping a secure and dynamic future in technology.
