Liquid upgrades Kenya-Uganda fiber route with terabit capacity

Cassava Technologies’ African tech business Liquid Intelligent Technologies announced that it has upgraded its 1,300-km fiber route in Kenya that connects the coastal city of Mombasa to Busia on the Ugandan border.

Liquid said the upgrades to the existing route between Kenya and Uganda provides additional multi-terabit capacity and additional resilience, enhancing digital connectivity while supporting several other East African countries with greater efficiency and reliable regional connectivity.

The company said the added terabit capacity not only makes the route a scalable option for Liquid’s retail, home, enterprise and wholesaler customers, but also better positions Liquid’s East African operations to support international hyperscalers entering the African market.

Meanwhile, the expansion improves resilience and enables Liquid to offer 99.99% uptime availability of services between Mombasa and the Uganda border to its customers, said Adil El Youssefi, CEO of Liquid Intelligent Technologies: Rest of Africa.

“The improved connectivity provided by this route, complementing our existing routes to the Uganda border, will support critical business sectors across the region, providing reliable, high-capacity networks essential for digital transformation and economic development,” he said in a statement.
