ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) said that its data centre in Jakarta will host a new node for the Indonesia Internet Exchange (IIX) under a new partnership with the Indonesian Internet Service Provider Association (APJII).
Under the partnership deal signed by APJII and STT GDC’s local subsidiary (PT STT GDC Indonesia), IIX will expand its coverage in Greater Jakarta with a node in STT Jakarta 1. The two companies say they aim to make the node the focal point of internet traffic exchange in the region, which would boost the efficiency and performance of internet connectivity.
STT GDC and APJII said they will collaborate to address the connectivity needs of customers within the data centre campus, helping them to shorten their path to transit from other participating networks, reducing latency, improving round-trip time and potentially reducing costs.
Hendrikus Hendra Gozali, country head of STT GDC Indonesia, said the APJII partnership also aims to support the growth of Indonesia’s digital economy by building an ecosystem with local technology and connectivity partners via the IIX node.
“As the digital economy in Indonesia matures, reliable digital infrastructure and resilient network connections become increasingly critical,” he said in a statement. “Maximising network performance is essential to create a seamless user experience for our customers and their customers.”
“We believe that reliable connectivity, infrastructure and technology are the primary foundations of digital business in Indonesia,” added APJII chairman Muhammad Arif. “The IIX at STT GDC will serve as a vital hub for developing a carrier-neutral interconnection ecosystem in Indonesia, meeting the high bandwidth and low latency requirements of today’s demand.”
STT GDC Indonesia officially launched STT Jakarta 1 in Bekasi, Jawa Barat, in July 2023. The data centre supports up to 19.5 MW of IT capacity, while the campus it sits on is designed to support up to 72MW.
