Africa Data Centres wants to accelerate the expansion of its network of data centres in Africa. The company signed a partnership agreement with Onix Data Centres in West Africa last June.
Data centre operator Africa Data Centres, a subsidiary of Cassava Technologies Group, is preparing to enter the Moroccan market. In an interview with ITWeb this week, Angus Hay (pictured), the company's regional director, revealed that it has acquired land in Casablanca to build a data centre.
The construction of a data center in Morocco will begin Africa Data Centers' expansion in North Africa. In this region, the company also plans facilities in Tunisia and Egypt.
This initiative is part of Africa Data Centres' African expansion strategy in a context marked by the acceleration of digital transformation on the continent. The company aims to build data centres in around ten African countries. It has a capital pool of $500 million for this purpose.
Africa Data Centres already operates data centres in South Africa, Kenya, Lagos in Nigeria and Togo. The company is currently looking to expand its network in West Africa starting with Ghana.
