Grameenphone aims to connect 50 Million internet users

Grameenphone, a subsidiary of Norwegian telecommunications company Telenor, aims to connect 50 million internet users in Bangladesh within the next five years.

The company recently surpassed 50 million subscribers, marking a significant milestone. CEO Vivek Sood announced a celebratory offer doubling internet speeds for existing 3G data packs at no extra cost. Grameenphone plans substantial annual investments to upgrade its network.

The company, covering 99% of the population with 8,600 base stations, was the first in Bangladesh to introduce prepaid services and international roaming in 1999. Grameenphone shares closed at 372 taka, down 2.70 points.
