The mobile phone market in Bahrain has witnessed remarkable growth during the first quarter of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, with telecom companies attracting approximately 34,000 new mobile phone subscriptions.
The number of mobile phone subscribers in the Kingdom jumped by 13.8%, reaching 2.44 million subscribers in Q1 2024, compared to 2.15 million subscribers in the same period last year.
Consequently, the mobile phone penetration rate rose from 136% to 155%.
This growth is attributed to the continued widespread use of smartphones, which have become an essential tool for communication, accessing information, and entertainment.
Prepaid mobile phone subscriptions grew by 7.7%, reaching 1.55 million subscriptions in Q1 2024.
