UAE’s MoIAT launches Transform 4.0 to accelerate digital transformation in manufacturing

The UAE’s Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) has introduced a new initiative, Transform 4.0, under Operation 300bn, aimed at expediting technological transformation across factories in the UAE. Launched at the Make it in the Emirates (MIITE) Forum, this initiative is part of MoIAT’s Technology Transformation Programme (TTP).

Transform 4.0 aims to support 100 high-potential manufacturers in digitalization, creating a group of Industry 4.0 (I4.0) lighthouses over the next three to five years. The initiative seeks to position UAE-based manufacturers as global leaders in technology adoption and digital transformation, helping them scale their digital journeys and embrace sustainable manufacturing practices.

MoU Signed

As part of this initiative, MoIAT signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Emirates Development Bank (EDB) and Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company PJSC (du) to drive digital transformation in manufacturing. The MoU was witnessed by Sarah Al Amiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology, and His Excellency Omar Al Suwaidi, Undersecretary of MoIAT.

EDB will finance manufacturers to upscale their digitalization efforts, while du will support manufacturers in developing and implementing digitalization roadmaps.

First Onboarder

The first manufacturer to join Transform 4.0 was ACME, a company specializing in automation solutions for various sectors. ACME signed an agreement with du and EDB during the forum to initiate its digital transformation under the programme.

Additionally, an MoU was signed between MoIAT and Industry Apps, a newly established UAE company that helps businesses enhance their digital maturity through an innovative platform. Companies in the Transform 4.0 programme will have access to Industry Apps’ range of digital tools, with free services worth AED 5.5 million ($1.5 million) provided to support SMEs in adopting cutting-edge technology.

Other manufacturers joining the programme include Hotpack Global, Mercatus MEA, Modern Plastics Industries, Hempel Paints, Ittihad Paper Mill (IPM), HIRA Industries, Star Paper Mill, Abu Dhabi Precast, Emirates Float Glass, Lipton, Al Gharbia Pipeline, Aquachemie, iPlast, Aswan Engineering, Agthia Group, Masafi, and Union Copper Rod.

MoIAT’s technology partners, including Maxbyte and Precast, have contributed AED 10 million worth of services to support Transform 4.0.

Technology and Industry

Commenting on Transform 4.0, Al Amiri said: “The UAE is at the forefront of fusing the digital and physical worlds of manufacturing. Launching the ambitious Transform 4.0 will support manufacturers, including SMEs, in adopting state-of-the-art digital tools, enhancing productivity, efficiency, and competitiveness in line with Operation 300bn. Collaborating with our national partners, we are investing in a future where technology and industry merge seamlessly, driving decarbonization and economic prosperity across the Emirates.”

The MIITE Forum, held from May 27 to 28 under Operation 300bn, showcases enablers and investment opportunities within the UAE’s industrial sector. The annual platform highlights flagship initiatives such as Make it in the Emirates, the National ICV Programme, and the Industrial Technology Transformation Index (ITTI). The forum serves as a venue for major announcements and investment opportunities, building on the AED 120 billion of investment opportunities generated by the previous forums.
