At the Presidential Complex, Türkiye Vice President H.E. Cevdet Yılmaz met with a Huawei delegation led by Jim Lu, Senior Vice President of Huawei and President of the European Region. The two parties exchanged views concerning the development and cooperations in Türkiye's Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and green energy industry.
Jim Lu, Senior Vice President of Huawei and President of the European Region, expressed his gratitude for the open, transparent, and fair business environment provided by the Turkish government. He stated Huawei's "In Türkiye, For Türkiye" commitment, and willingness to contribute to the local society, in areas of ICT talent development, technology innovation, and green transformation. Jim Lu noted that Huawei had been operating in Türkiye for 22 years, and Huawei was happy to become a bridge between Chinese companies and Türkiye's market, to provide investment advice in Türkiye to Chinese companies.
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz expressed appreciation for Huawei's decades of operations in Türkiye and its commitment to the country. Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz said that Huawei was a good example for Chinese companies that produce high technology to invest in Türkiye. Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz hoped Huawei could enhance its investments in Türkiye, and stated that international companies investing in Türkiye are viewed as Turkish companies.
Kaya Shi, CEO of Huawei Türkiye, described Huawei's operations in Türkiye, localization progress, its diversity and inclusiveness, and social contributions. Up to 96% of Huawei's workforce in the country consists of Türkiye hires, he said. Various ICT Talent Development Programs were launched to train Türkiye talent including Seeds for the Future, and ICT Academy. In the aftermath of the earthquake of February 6, 2023, Huawei worked with local partners to provide disaster relief and restore networks. Kaya Shi also mentioned that Huawei had set up a local cloud platform in Türkiye. He also introduced progress and cooperation plans with local partners in the green energy industry. Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz then stated that he was happy to see the plans and he would continue to support Huawei's operation in Türkiye.
