Colombia's 4G infra projects 80% complete

Colombia’s 4G infrastructure works are close to being 80% complete, with seven projects ready and 11 in development, according to local infrastructure chamber CCI.

So far, 4G works have received investment of close to 60tn pesos (about US$15bn).

To date, 430km of new single carriageway highways, 137km of new third lanes and 676km of new dual carriageways have been built, while 3,118km have been improved and repaired and 776 bridges and viaducts have been built, CCI president Juan Martín Caicedo said in a television interview.

Among the 4G highway projects are the Cartagena-Barranquilla, Villavicencio-Yopal, Conexión Pacífico, Bucaramanga-Barrancabermeja-Yondo, Rumichaca-Pasto, Buga-Buenaventura and Bogotá-Girardot highways.

4G projects along with 5G multimodal projects are transforming Colombia's infrastructure.

In an interview with BNamericas last October, the vice president of structuring at infrastructure agency ANI, Jonathan Bernal, said that in 2024 the entity would award various infrastructure projects for a total of 17.8tn pesos.
