Qatar Airways unveils its latest innovation, introducing virtual flight attendants dubbed ‘digital human cabin crew’ to enhance customer assistance both at airports and onboard planes.
Named Sama 2.0, the digital attendant made her debut at the ITB Berlin trade show, showcasing her capabilities to assist customers through large kiosk-like screens. Utilizing cutting-edge conversational AI, Sama interacts with passengers in real time, addressing queries ranging from FAQs to destination information.
Qatar Airways claims Sama 2.0 as the industry's first AI-powered customer assistance of its kind. Accessible through the airline's metaverse, the Qverse, and the Qatar app, Sama marks a significant leap forward in leveraging technology to enhance the air travel experience.
Armed with advanced conversational AI, Sama serves as a comprehensive resource for Qatar Airways passengers. She engages with travellers in real-time, offering solutions to inquiries spanning from FAQs to destination details. Accessible through Qatar Airways' immersive digital platform, QVerse, and their mobile app, this digital flight attendant streamlines the passenger experience.
Other than this, Sama is engineered to adapt based on customer interactions, enabling personalized travel experiences. Passengers can maximize Sama's capabilities by accessing Qatar's Qverse. Through this platform, the virtual assistant offers guidance, from navigating 3D airport maps to addressing real-time inquiries regarding baggage, check-in, and more, via a chat module. While currently English-speaking only, plans are underway to incorporate fluency in other languages, including Arabic, by the end of the year.
