Dear Valued Member of SAMENA Council:

Following a successful RISE Conference in Riyadh, centered on fostering understanding of digital transformation for sustainability versus sustainability in digital transformation, SAMENA Council, as an agenda-setter, will be making its thought-leadership contributions on behalf of its Membership to the ITU’s Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR-23). GSR-23 will take place in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, from 5-8 June 2023. As a part of GSR-23, the ITU will host pre-and side-events, including the Regional Regulatory Associations Meeting and the Industry Advisory Group for Development Issues/Chief Regulatory Officers (IAGDAI-CRO) Meetings, which will be chaired by SAMENA Council and which I have the distinct privilege to represent. In preparation for GSR and the Best Practice Guideline Consultation, SAMENA Council is seeking inputs or suggestions you may have on the themes of the sessions and issues to be brought forward into the agenda of the GSR-23, best reflective of your needs as a Member of the Council.

GSR-23’s theme is closely aligned with the discussions that took place in Riyadh during the SAMENA Council RISE Conference earlier this month: “Regulation for a sustainable digital future”.

Through this note, I request you to share with SAMENA Council your input and suggestions, which can be brought under discussion at the GSR-23 and during the meetings that SAMENA Council will chair. The SAMENA Council team will coordinate with each valued Member entity of the Council to ensure we take your valuable suggestions into this stock-taking exercise, to support our advocacy efforts on behalf of the Membership.
