Indonesia's Balitower taps Nokia to optimise its IP network

Indonesia-based telecoms tower and network infrastructure provider Balitower has contracted Nokia to provide a new IP routing solution to boost capacity and improve operational efficiency of its IP network.

Nokia said Balitower will deploy the energy-efficient routing solution in Jakarta, Bali and Singapore, enabling it to better meet growing demand for network capacity more sustainably.

The solution includes Nokia’s 7750 service router, deep packet inspection (DPI), carrier grade network address translation (CGNAT) and internet routers. The deployment also includes Nokia’s Network Services Platform (NSP) as well as deployment and care support to Balitower.

Balitower CEO Jap Owen Ronadhi said the company is replacing its existing gear to future-proof its IP network and ensure a better customer experience for its subscribers.

“[Nokia’s solutions] will help us significantly improve network cost economics while reducing operational complexities. At the same time, it will enable us to support evolving business needs for an extended period, positioning us favourably to seize emerging market opportunities,” he said in a statement.

The deal is a part of Balitower's three-year nationwide project to modernize its IP network, which Nokia has contributed to before. In November 2022, Balitower contracted Nokia to supply mobile transport solutions and services to increase network capacity and reliability to deliver expanded 5G services for its customers.
