Saudi internet users can expect faster services as Integrated Dawiyat Co. has secured a license to build landing stations and international cable capacities, enhancing global connectivity.
The fiber optics subsidiary of the Saudi Electricity Co. announced that it has obtained a permit from the Communication, Space, and Technology Commission. This authorization enables the subsidiary to construct, operate, and maintain a cable landing station, providing international connectivity to local and global telecom operators, service providers, and content providers, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.
Dawiyat stated that securing the license aligns with its earlier investment commitment of SR9.8 billion ($2.6 billion), signifying a strategic step forward in advancing the telecommunications sector.
This initiative aims to boost the Kingdom’s digital economy, enhance and expand the technological infrastructure, and cater to the growing demand for high-speed internet services, according to SPA.
The CEO of the company, Wael bin Ali Al-Ghamdi, elaborated that obtaining this permit empowers the company to fulfill its role in delivering highly reliable and efficient international connectivity. He emphasized that this step will contribute to the development of communication infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, actively supporting the growth of the digital economy.
SPA added in its report that Dawiyat will provide services connecting landing stations and international cable capacities at strategic locations in the Kingdom, offering high-speed worldwide connectivity for both global and local companies. The firm will also provide a unique and diverse range of services specifically designed to meet the individual needs of its customers.
According to the Dawiyat website, the company, which was founded in 2009, has obtained several licenses from the country’s communications watchdog to provide telecom services in all parts of the Kingdom.
The firm owns the prerequisites for regional and international interconnection, and its fiber-optic networks are fully compliant with the highest global specifications and standards as well as the ultimate reliability for being one of the newest established grids, extending within the infrastructure of the electricity transmission networks, which require very high-quality standards compared to other communication networks.
