The DF1 brand, once used by Leo Kirch’s digital platform, is returning to German TV screens.
On January 1, 2024, a new free TV channel will launch under this name on capacities previously used by ServusTV Deutschland, which will be closed down the day before. DF1 will broadcast unencrypted in HD resolution via Astra (19.2° East) on the frequency 11.303 GHz H (SR 22,000, FEC 2/3) as well as via cable, IPTV, on streaming platforms and as a livestream at www.df1.de.
A number of programmes will be taken over from ServusTV, such as documentaries, quiz shows, a science magazine and sports coverage. In addition, there will be live and replay sports content from streaming service DAZN, whose subsidiary DAZN Media will handle DF1’s advertising sales, as well as original content in the areas of entertainment and daily news. According to DF1, discussions are underway with further partners regarding the supply of programmes.
DF1 is operated by DF1 Medien GmbH, which was founded in 2023. The company, based in Unterföhring near Munich, is headed by managing director David Frederic Müller.
