AzTelekom deploys GPON network in Yevlakh region

State-owned operator AzTelekom has deployed GPON networks in the Yevlakh District under the state-funded ‘Online Azerbaijan’ project. More than 18,000 households in the villages of Jirdakhan, Iravanli, Hajiselli, Havarli, Marzili, Narimanabad, Duzdag, Nematabad, Goyunbinesi, Malbinesi, Kolani, Ashaghi Salamabad and Aran settlement have been covered with fibre broadband networks, and 8,805 subscribers are already accessing download speeds of between 30Mbps and 100Mbps as well as bundled fixed voice and television services.

Within the framework of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport’s (MDDT’s) Online Azerbaijan project, almost 888,000 households across the country gained access to high speed broadband services during the first eleven months of this year. Broadband networks now pass 58% of existing households in the country, approximately 1.7 million homes, with this figure expected to reach 60% by the end of 2023. Implemented under a public-private partnership model, the programme aims to extend GPON-based fixed broadband networks, providing a minimum download speed of 25Mbps, to most areas of the country by the end of 2024.
