O2 Slovakia has announced that it will begin the phased switch-off of its 3G network towards the end of next month. The shutdown process will begin in the districts of Zarnovica and Zlate Moravce and will then be carried out region-by-region over the next two years. The firm said that at the end of September 97.6% of the population had access to its 4G network, while its 5G coverage had reached 69.3%.
Separately, Slovakia’s Antimonopoly Office (Protimonopolny urad, PMU) has approved the acquisition of a majority 50% plus one share stake in O2 Slovakia by the United Arab Emirates-based group e&.
