ITU’s Green Digital Action at COP28

Digital technologies are crucial in our efforts to solve the climate crisis.

These technologies are instrumental in climate monitoring, climate change adaptation and early warning systems. They also play a vital role in mitigation efforts, such as boosting energy efficiency.

At the same time, the rapid uptake of data and devices increases the sector's energy consumption, emissions, material use and e-waste worldwide.

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU), together with more than 40 partners across the UN, governments, businesses and civil society, will convene the Green Digital Action track at COP28 to unite the global digital community, develop practical solutions, and step up climate action across the industry with the aim of positioning the sector as a leader on climate.
