Telekom’s FTTH footprint reaches over 7 million homes

Telekom Deutschland (TD), the domestic operating unit of Deutsche Telekom (DT), says it upgraded fixed broadband speeds for an additional 364,000 households in October.

The firm revealed that 36 million homes can now access maximum data rates of up to 100Mbps and the number of 250Mbps-enabled lines has reached over 29 million nationwide. TD states that the total number of households passed by its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network rose by 250,000 last month, to 7.1 million, enabling maximum speeds of up to 1Gbps. Since the beginning of the year, more than 2.6 million households have benefited from TD’s upgrade and expansion work.

‘We provide Germany with a fast and sustainable network,’ said Abdu Mudesir, Managing Director of Technology at TD, adding: ‘Our infrastructure brings people together and opens up new perspectives, both professionally and privately. In this way, we are making an important contribution to leading society into a modern, digital future.’
