Omantel appoints Saleem Abdullatiff as Vice President of the Business Unit

Omantel, the leading provider of integrated telecommunication services in the Sultanate of Oman, has announced the appointment of Saleem bin Ahmed Abdullatiff as Vice President of the Business Unit. Saleem has over 30 years’ experience in marketing and ICT.

Saleem will lead the implementation of the Business Unit strategy, strengthen Omantel's market leadership as the leading operator in providing integrated telecommunications services, build and strengthen Omantel's relationships with various corporate customers and enhance the customer experience, leveraging his extensive experience and understanding of the highly competitive local telecommunications industry.

Saleem began his career as an electrical engineer at the Muscat Municipality and rose up the ladder to become Privatization Director. In 2005, he joined Oman Mobile, Omantel’s mobile business arm at that time, as the Distribution Channels Manager and was later appointed Manager of Retail Sales and then General Manager of Direct Sales at Omantel's Consumer Unit after the merger of Oman Mobile and Omantel. Saleem Abdullatiff then served as General Manager of Marketing at the Consumer Unit before moving to the Business Unit as General Manager of Marketing. He also chaired and served as a member of several boards of directors of companies owned by the Oman Investment Authority, including Muscat Electricity Distribution Company, Rural Areas Electricity Company, as well as Infoline and Future Cities (Tadoom).

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Sultan Qaboos University and a Master's degree in Engineering Project Management from the University of Manchester, UK.
