Ucom expands fiber broadband services to Ijevan City, in Tavush Province

Armenian altnet Ucom has announced that under its ongoing fibre broadband rollout, its ultra-fast home internet services have been launched in the city of Ijevan, located in the province of Tavush in the northeast of the country. Residents in the city can now avail themselves of triple-play (mobile, internet and IPTV) services with speeds of up to 150Mbps for AMD8,000 (USD18.9) per month.

As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate last month, as part of the ongoing fibre programme, Ucom activated services in the town of Goris, in Syunik Province in the south of the country, and Gavar, a town in Gegharkunik Province which is situated among the high mountains of the Gegham range to the west of Lake Sevan. Previously, in July, its director general Ralph Yirikian set out the company’s ambitious five-year strategy and vision, the key pillars of which will see the modernisation and expansion of both mobile and fixed networks across Armenia.
