In a recent development to strengthen regional digital collaboration, Bahrain’s Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) engaged in discussions with Saudi Arabia’s Digital Government Authority during the 7th GCC eGovernment Ministerial Committee meeting in Oman. iGA Chief Executive Mohammed Ali Al Qaed met with Engineer Ahmed bin Mohammed Alsuwaiyan, the Governor of Saudi Arabia’s Digital Government Authority, to explore potential collaborative avenues.
Al Qaed lauded the solid relationship between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, particularly praising Saudi Arabia’s advancements in information and communication technology (ICT). He acknowledged the significant role played by the Digital Government Authority in Saudi Arabia’s journey towards digital transformation in government services, expressing his best wishes for their continued progress.
The meeting also served as a platform for Al Qaed to highlight Bahrain’s achievements in eGovernment initiatives, national projects, and its digital transformation journey. He emphasized the importance of enhancing technical cooperation between the two nations to further these efforts.
In response, the Saudi Governor praised the iGA’s efforts in digital policy implementation and transformation within Bahrain’s government sector. Recognizing the mutual benefits of such a partnership, Alsuwaiyan extended an invitation to Al Qaed to participate in the upcoming Digital Government Forum in Riyadh, scheduled for December 19 to 20.
According to MEA Tech Watch, the forum presents an invaluable opportunity for Bahrain to exhibit its leadership in digital transformation. It also provides a stage for engaging with global experts and decision-makers in the field of digital government. This exchange of ideas and experiences is expected to contribute significantly to the regional discourse on eGovernment and digital transformation, further fostering cooperation between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia in the digital realm.
