Cirion expands its data centre complex in São Paulo

Digital infrastructure and technology provider Cirion Technologies has announced the expansion of its carrier-neutral data centre complex in São Paulo (known as SAO1) with a new 3,600 square-metre building, increasing total capacity by 50%.

The site is enabled to host workloads that require high density, including various forms of AI, gaming and machine learning, among others.

The expansion of the SAO1 complex enables Cirion to continue supporting the demands of various hyperscalers, carriers, and content providers, all of whom require robust and scalable infrastructure.

Both buildings in the SAO1 complex share a 20MW power substation, with redundant high voltage line inputs. The new building follows the company’s carrier-neutral policy, allowing customers direct access to more than 90 carriers and to the primary public cloud companies operating in Latin American markets.

Additionally, SAO1 is certified with the highest ISO standards and with Tier III Design Documents and Tier III Constructed Facility from the Uptime Institute. It is also compliant with AICPA’s PCI-DSS 9 (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) and SOC (System and Organization Controls) 1, SOC 2 and SOC 3, in addition to being an SAP Outsourcing Operations Partner.

Cirion owns and operates three data centre complexes in Brazil, strategically located in the cities of São Paulo (SAO1), Rio de Janeiro (RIO1) and Curitiba (CUR1). These facilities are located in secure, easily accessed regions, and close to primary business districts and airports, thus enabling greater logistical and operational agility.

This expansion, says Cirion, will allow SAO1 to achieve market-leading power usage effectiveness (PUE), with minimal energy, water, and natural resources consumption to reduce its overall environmental impact.

Cirion is backed by Stonepeak, a leading alternative investment firm specialised in infrastructure and real assets.

Cirion says this expansion continues over 30 years of serving corporate customers in Brazil and more broadly across Latin America.
