Sure Guernsey has revealed that from 1 November its full fiber network will begin offering downlink speeds of 2Gbps for residential users. Alongside the introduction of a new headline download speed, the telco has confirmed that all of its fibre plans are being updated to offer symmetrical speeds at no additional cost to end users, with some also seeing download speeds boosted. As an example, Sure’s entry-level fibre offering – Basic Fibre – will have its downlink speeds increased from 30Mbps to 50Mbps, with uplink rates rising from 3Mbps to 50Mbps.
Sure’s Head of Consumer, Mike Fawkner-Corbett, said of the development: ‘We are proud to provide access to the fastest broadband network in the Channel Islands with an incredible new top speed of 2Gbps. This is positive news for the island’s connectivity and economy, helping to futureproof the island.’
