Chilean telecoms regulator the Department of Telecommunications (Subsecretaria de Telecomunicaciones, Subtel) has published auction documents for the sale of 50MHz of spectrum in the 3400MHz-3600MHz band.
The tender will feature up to five blocks of 10MHz each, with licences valid for 30 years. Concessions will be awarded to applicants based on an evaluation of their technical proposals, taking into consideration deployment time, proposed coverage and new infrastructure to be installed. As the airwaves do not make up a continuous block Subtel will rearrange the 3400MHz-3600MHz band upon the completion of the tender so that the blocks awarded in the auction are ‘continuous, and that the rest of the blocks granted in [this] band are left with the least dispersion and greatest possible continuity’. Applications are to be submitted by 16 January 2024.
