Orange shop wins gold in “Buildings Accessible to Persons with Disability” Award

Orange Jordan was recognized for its commitment to accessibility by winning a gold category award in the first edition of the “Buildings Accessible to Persons with Disabilities Award”. The award was presented by His Royal Highness Prince Mired Bin Ra’ad, the chief chamberlain and the president of the HCD, at the announcement ceremony, which was attended by Her Royal Highness Princess Dina Mired.

The Orange 7th Circle shop was one of 11 winners of the gold category award, out of 86 buildings that participated in the award’s three categories. The participants included government institutions and departments, private sector institutions, and buildings from and voluntary organizations.

The evaluation process consisted of two stages, the first evaluating the submitted documents, photos, and video, and the second included field visits to verify the accessibility of the buildings that applied for the award.

The achievement of the Orange 7th Circle shop comes due to its means of ensure inclusion of everyone, including allocating parking spots for persons with disabilities, sensory signals to enhance access through touch for persons with visual disabilities, a ramp at the entrance, a designated space within the waiting area for wheelchair users, and the SignBook application providing video communication for persons with hearing disabilities, and a customer service office for persons with disabilities, in addition the accessible Orange Jordan website with audio files for persons with visual disabilities.

Chief Corporate Communication and Sustainability Officer at Orange Jordan, Engineer Rana Al Dababneh, affirmed: “We are proud that the 7th Circle shop won this award, which we consider a recognition of our continuous efforts to ensure inclusion of persons with disabilities. We were keen to provide this shop with all means that would enhance accessibility, as the company believes in the importance of access for all to its various digital solutions, information about them, and the services provided in its shops and through its website, under its umbrella «Differently Abled, Definitely Enabled»”.

The annual Buildings Accessible to Persons with Disabilities Award was launched by HDC in early 2022 for buildings ensuring the highest levels of accessibility in the Kingdom. The criteria include ramps, elevators, entrance and exit widths, tactile indicators, accessible websites with easy-to-read formats, facilitating devices such as Braille signs, sign language for communicating with the public with hearing disabilities and assistive technology as needed.
