UAE SMEs to benefit from RAKEZ-Amazon deal

Business licencing authority Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ) and Amazon UAE have signed an MoU to enable businesses registered within the RAKEZ hub to sell their products to millions of customers across the UAE on Amazon.ae.

Situated in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE, RAKEZ offers customisable solutions for UAE company formation to free zone and non-free zone businesses in a multinational community of over 18,000 companies.

It is one of the largest economic zones in the region, supporting start-ups, entrepreneurs, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and industrialists with their business set-up processes and requirements.

The RAKEZ initiative with Amazon.ae aims to support SMEs to scale their businesses online, enabling them to leverage Amazon's capabilities, tools, services, programmes and people to navigate the digital economy.

As part of the collaboration, members of the RAKEZ business community will have access to a suite of Amazon's services, including tools for seamless seller registration and onboarding; seller education through on-site training, in-person workshops and live webinars; and support teams to ensure what is described as ‘a smooth digital journey’.

RAKEZ Group CEO Ramy Jallad says: "With the UAE's e-commerce industry expected to reach US$9.2 billion in 2026, SMEs operating in the online space have a huge potential to unlock greater success. By providing SMEs with the tools to scale up, we anticipate a surge in online sales, innovations, and strengthening the UAE's online retail landscape."

Amazon Seller Success Director in MENA Jasmin Frick notes that the agreement is closely aligned with the company’s goal of hosting products from 100,000 businesses, including local SMBs, on Amazon.ae by 2026, in alignment with Dubai's Economic Agenda D33.

Dubai Economic Agenda D33 includes 100 transformational projects. Its key goal is to double the size of Dubai's economy over the next decade and to consolidate its position among the top three global cities.
