Hutchison Drei Austria has announced that coverage of its 5G network has increased to 85% of the population. Recently connected rural communities include Zitternberg, Mitterreith, Obergrabern, Mariathal, Roggendorf and Radlbrunn, which are now covered by the firm’s 5G Standalone (SA, or ‘5G+’) network. As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate Drei activated its 5G SA service on a large scale for households and companies in September 2022, enabling even higher and more stable data transfers. The offering was initially made available for 1.3 million homes and businesses across the country, and all of the firm’s existing 5G transmission sites have been activated for 5G+.
‘With the largest investment offensive in the company’s history, we have once again significantly accelerated our network expansion and are now reaching four out of five households and companies with the next 5G generation – even in previously underserved regions’, commented Drei CEO Rudolf Schrefl, adding: ‘We are pursuing this with our new 5G and 5G+ data tariffs. The aim is to give customers access to the best technology available.’
