Philippine Telegraph & Telephone Corp. (PT&T), a listed telecommunications player, plans to capitalize on the popularity of artificial intelligence-powered ChatGPT to grow its enterprise unit.
In a statement on Thursday, PT&T said it is eyeing to infuse its offerings for businesses with ChatGPT in Microsoft 365 Copilot, another AI feature developed by US-based tech giant Microsoft that speeds up administrative works.
The listed firm said it sealed the deal with Microsoft and Crayon Philippines for this venture.
The launch of this exclusive service in the Philippine market is eyed by the first quarter of 2024, according to PT&T President and CEO James Velasquez.
Earlier reports showed that PT&T, which previously vied for the third telco status, is targeting to raise ₱11 billion to ₱17 billion from the last quarter of 2023 to the first semester of next year. The funds are aimed at financing its network buildup.
While it has a network of more than 25,000 fiber kilometers, covering about 40% of the population, PT&T has started expanding in the IT market.
