Radio Bahrain launches livestream app to drive digital transformation

Radio Bahrain has launched a new livestream app in an attempt to boost digital transformation in the country.

The 24/7 service will be accessible to audiences worldwide, giving the station a new way to reach its listeners.

Khalid Mohammed Mattar, chairman of the board of directors of Radio Bahrain Co., said the app “marks the start of our digital transformation journey. This is an exciting new chapter for our growing audiences in the region and around the world.”

He added that Radio Bahrain will continue to innovate and add new features soon — and that the app would offer listeners the “best possible experience.”

The app is available for download on iOS and Android devices and features a variety of content, including live radio broadcasts, podcasts and news.

Launched in 1977, Bahrain’s first English radio station reaches 6.5 million people in the country and its surrounding regions.

With the introduction of digital services, radio bosses hope to increase their audience figures.

Omar Khalifa Shaheen, Radio Bahrain Co. CEO, said the introduction of new high-tech studios helped the station create fresh content for its listeners.

He said Radio Bahrain is committed to its digitalization journey and will soon introduce “visual radio,” an audiovisual radio experience that will “combine the best of both worlds” to “create a new and immersive way for listeners to engage with our content.”

Shaheen added: “So many people around the world love Bahrain and have great memories of visiting or living here, and for many of them Radio Bahrain plays a big part in those memories. That’s a legacy we’re committed to continuing for decades to come.”
