IoT connectivity boost for Brazil promised by Soracom

A new data plan that delivers Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity for Brazil using a local carrier profile to ensure regulatory compliance could be on the way after Soracom, a global provider of advanced IoT connectivity, announced the release of what it calls PlanP2.

As Soracom points out, Brazil is a large and growing market for IoT, but regional restrictions on permanent roaming present a compliance challenge for connected devices designed to be used in multiple countries. With PlanP2, customers can use the same Soracom IoT SIM for both global multicarrier connectivity in more than 160 countries and fully compliant 2G/3G/4G/NB-IoT connection in Brazil.

This approach takes advantage of Soracom's Subscription Container feature, which allows users to add multiple network profiles to Soracom SIM cards and eSIMs over the air (OTA).

PlanP2 is compatible with both card-type and chip-type SIMs (eSIMs) and can even be set to pause network access fees during inactive periods in a product lifecycle, such as transit and storage between manufacture/testing and deployment/retail. This is especially useful for devices that are manufactured and distributed globally, such as consumer electronics, wearables, location-based trackers, and connected healthcare devices.

Soracom is a technology partner to more than 20,000 start-ups, SMBs and enterprises, connecting more than 5 million IoT devices globally.
