Movistar Empresas held the third edition of the Hispam Digital Forum in Colombia with the aim of sharing and discussing the main trends in business digital transformation, with international speakers and differential experiences.
“At Movistar Empresas we want to be allies in the digital transformation of businesses. That is why events such as the Hispam Digital Forum are important, as they allow us to discuss and reflect on the digital future for various industries. To date, more than 300,000 companies in the country trust our value proposition and 86% of the top 100 companies are our current customers," said Fabián Hernández, CEO of Telefónica Movistar Colombia.
"Our job at Movistar Empresas is to ensure high-quality connectivity and availability, guaranteeing the security of information so that entrepreneurs can experience their digital transformation supported by our technological base," added the manager.
As part of the agenda, there was a demonstration of the recent alliance between Movistar Empresas and Starlink, through the global business unit Telefónica Global Solutions (TGS). This alliance enables high-speed, low-latency broadband Internet services to be delivered around the world, even in the most rural and remote locations, via a constellation of highly advanced Low Earth Orbit satellites. The service boasts download speeds that reach 100 Mbps and upload speeds that reach 30 Mbps, as well as latency as low as 20 milliseconds.
During the event, various trends that mark the digital agenda of companies were discussed. On fronts such as the Internet of Things (IoT), it is evident that in the medium and long term, 67% will have contracted solutions that allow them to automate critical processes in their companies. Likewise, 72% will have adopted Big Data solutions to predict market trends and improve decision-making. In addition, 71% will evolve their WAN network connectivity to improve its management, reduce latency and optimize operating costs (SDWAN).
It should be noted that Movistar Colombia has established itself as the benchmark operator in terms of Fiber Optics in the country, since it has more than 21,500 kilometers of fiber laid throughout the national territory. At the level of real estate units with fiber optic access to the home, the company has deployed more than 4.3 million homes. Of that total, 140,000 companies of all sizes are clients that have transformed their productivity thanks to better connectivity through this technology.
Alliances for digitization
Nokia was present as part of the agenda, highlighting the strategic alliance to accelerate the digital transformation of Latin American companies through the development of private IoT (Internet of Things) networks with the 'Industrial IoT Network' (IIoTN) solution. This solution is specifically designed to interconnect all the smart devices of a company. Private IoT networks allow the formation of systems that collect, monitor and analyze key data to drive the digital transformation of the business, as well as its evolution towards the Industry 4.0 concept.
Telefónica Tech, Telefónica's digital business unit, also participated in the event with a presentation on the challenges posed by computer security, in which it also explained its capabilities to protect companies.
“Telefónica Tech is a leading provider of innovative technological services for the B2B market, which is present in several Latin American countries, including Colombia, Chile, Mexico and Peru. The inauguration in May of our Digital Operations Center (DOC) in Colombia, in addition to the one created in Madrid (Spain) last year, reinforces our cybersecurity and cloud operations capabilities both in the Hispam region and throughout global level to help companies to transform digitally with security”, highlighted Daniel Emiliano González, Country Manager Colombia Telefónica Tech Cyber Security & Cloud.
5G pilot for industries
Movistar Empresas installed, with the authorization of the ICT Ministry, and in collaboration with Huawei, a 5G node for the transmission of the event. This network allowed the connection of “WillBot” (Wilson Bot), a next-generation robotic dog, which carried out demonstrations in applications for industries. WillBot was named after the dog that disappeared in the jungle.
“WillBot” is already applied in different parts of the world as a new detection method for factories, parks, substations, urban underground pipeline corridors and other important places. Intelligent inspection quadruped robots can obtain environmental information and identification information from detection equipment, and can complete tasks that cannot be done manually.
