French paycaster Canal+ is further enhancing its movie offer with two new channels. Canal+ Box-office and Canal+ Cinéma(s) will debut on Friday alongside the existing myCanal streaming platform and Canal+ offerings, at no additional cost to subscribers.
The new channels come a year after the launch of Canal+ Grand Écran, which features cult and iconic films.
Canal+ Box-office will feature recent cinema successes and major US films. Subscribers will have access to films like Damien Chazelle’s Babylon, Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and even Scream VI, just six months after their theatrical release.
This early access has been made possible by the French windows system that allows a shortened window to those broadcasters who contribute to the cinema industry. This gives Canal a 6-month window after a film’s theatrical release.
Canal+ Cinéma(s) is focussing on programming for the cinema enthusiast. Its initial line-up includes Todd Field’s Tár, Martin McDonagh’s Les Banshees d’Inisherin, Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale, and Luca Guadagnino’s Bones and All.
