VEON has submitted a digital banking licence application to the Central Bank of Bangladesh on behalf of its subsidiary Banglalink. VEON notes that Banglalink currently serves 42 million mobile subscriptions, while its MyBL super-app, which offers music, gaming, ticket bookings and utility bill payments, is used by 7.1 million monthly users. In addition, the cellco’s Toffee OTT entertainment platform is accessed by ten million people each month.
Across its six markets, VEON group serves 21.6 million monthly active users of its financial services on mobile platforms, including digital lending products in certain VEON markets.
